In this course, you will be introduced to the history of Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) and study the framework of the components of movement beyond the biomechanical basics. This course will assist you to effectively analyse movement in your work with clients.
The concepts of body, shape, space, effort and kinesphere will be explored. The course will cover kinetic (movement) and kinaesthetic (of sensing) aspects of movement as diagnostic tools as well as frameworks for therapeutic intervention. Students will study the processes of movement as opposed to discussions of static body language and study Laban Movement Analysis as the comprehensive framework needed to communicate the observation of movement/emotion.
The workshop part of the course involves participating in expressive movement experientials and in order to complete all requirements of the course students must complete additional Assessment Tasks and attend scheduled Online Learning Tutorials.

Yes, assessment for the Nationally Accredited unit of competency NAT11068002 Assess clients’ movement behaviour using Laban Movement Analysis principles is included. Students will complete the online Laban Movement Analysis content and will work towards obtaining the Government Accredited unit of competency NAT11068002 Assess clients’ movement behaviour using Laban Movement Analysis principles by completing all associated assessment tasks in the eLearning platform. Then a Certificate will be issued with a for professional development purposes and to enable graduates to articulate into other qualifications.
